Travel | Secret rice fields in Bali

The rice fields in Bali are a well-known, spectacular natural attraction and we agree you should most definitely visit them. Graysonsisters is giving you in this blog four secret rice fields that we love to visit.

If you go to an information desk, they are likely to recommend you go to Tagallang Rice Terrace in Kabupaten Gianyar or Jutiluwih Rice Terraces in Penebel Tabanan. Both are beautiful places to visit, but can be busy as they are the two most famous rice fields in Bali. Therefore, Bali Rental Villas shared with us their favourite rice fields where you can take amazing selfies without hundreds of other tourists around you.

Sipping coconuts with rice field view

Imagine yourself sipping coconut water out of a fresh coconut, viewing the ocean to one side of an expansive rice field and hills and mountains surroundings to the other. This scenario is possible in West-Bali’s Negara area on the way to the harbour for the boats to Java. For scooter-lovers this is a fantastic drive, and a big bonus is that you can visit Madewi beach nearby. Be prepared for black lava sand which is hot to touch.

Location: West-Bali, Negara area, near Madewi beach.

Crossing rice fields and traditional villages

Amed is not only the place to be for snorkelling and diving, the journey to Amed will blow you away. You drive through picturesque villages with lots of small temples and people wearing traditional clothing. To make this typical Bali composition complete; there are many rice fields in the area. You can ask your driver to stop along the way so you can take pictures of the vast valleys of rice fields. Bali Rental Villas favourite rice field around Amed is located in Abang with coast landscape rice terraces.

Just outside city centre Canggu

You will be surprised to read about this one, as it is in the popular surf town Canggu. Bali Rental Villas discovered it when they drove toward the famous Tanah Lot temple. The view of the rice fields in Bali reaching the horizon is stunning, and having a good meal accompanied with that makes it even more rewarding. You will find along the way nice local ‘warungs’ that offer tasty traditional food. The rice fields are selfie worthy for sure!

Discover rice fields by bicycle

If you are in a sporty mood; go to Sanur. You can rent a bike and join a guided tour through the rice fields in this area. The guides can tell you everything about the process and how they harvest the rice. They will also take you to see beautiful orchids gardens, a local market and the abandoned amusement park, Taman Festival near Sanur beach. The best time to take the tour through these rice fields in Bali is in the early morning; when the sunrise is giving a magical touch to your view.
